When in my pregnancy should I start on a Hypnobirthing course?

As early as possible. The earlier you sign up the more practice you can do and the more confident you will be. Plus you and your baby will benefit from all the relaxation during pregnancy. Most people usually start around 26 weeks pregnant.

I haven't got long left before baby is due, am I too late?

No not at all! Any time spent doing Hypnobirthing will make a difference.

How does the course work?

The course is approximately 10-12 hours. You may wish to have one to one sessions or join a group. The course can be taught a variety of ways, for example: over 4 weeks one evening a week, or over a weekend, plus there will always be a top up session nearer baby's arrival. I am fairly flexible so please contact me to discuss your individual needs. Alternatively, you may wish to sign up to the online course. Once you have booked, all the resources are available to you to refer to and use at your own pace, in your own home, over and over.

What is included in the course?

On receipt of payment you will be sent the Katharine Graves Hypnobirthing (KGH) book with the link to the Colour and Calmness MP3 downloads so you can start practicing relaxation before the course starts. On your first session you will receive a folder of notes for the course. All this is included in the fee. If you sign up to the online course, all your resources will be online and available to you at anytime. This includes online 12 hours of online streamed videos, the digital version of the KGH book and the MP3s to download.

How often should we practice?

As often as you can! Hypnobirthing is like any skill, and needs practice for you to become better at it. I have noticed that my clients who put a lot of time into practicing, are the ones who have the most rewarding outcomes. Hypnobirthing always makes a difference, how much difference is down to you and the time/effort you are willing to put in. Listening to the KGH MP3 downloads every night as you fall asleep, as well as half an hour or so practice as a couple once every 2-3 days is a good start. Aim to increase the practice as you get towards the end of your pregnancy.

Can my husband/birthing companion join me?

Yes! The birth companion plays a vital role in hypnobirthing so it is a course designed for both Mother and birth companion together - the fee is for both. I also encourage people to bring their Doula if they are using one, so they too are familiar with what you are doing.

Do I need any special equipment?

No, you will be provided with notes, MP3 downloads and a book for the course (included in the fee).

I only want to do parts of the course/a refresher as I have done something similar before, is this possible?

Yes it is, please contact me to discuss your needs.
